Meet Ed Todd

Ed Todd is ‘Of Counsel’ at Mike Love & Associates, LLC. in Lufkin with over 35 years law practice. Born and reared in Fort Worth, Ed earned a BA in history and government at the University of Texas at Arlington, and his Juris Doctorate at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Ed worked his way through law school as an insurance adjuster and claims examiner, and was sole practitioner in general law for 14 years in north Texas. He then moved to Houston, where for the next ten years he was owner of Todd & Associates, a multi-attorney law firm in Houston specializing in personal injury, product liability, workers’ compensation, and employment/labor issues. Ed is admitted to practice before the U. S. District Courts of the Northern, Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas, has trial experience in over 1,000 trials, and has resolved over 5,000 contested cases.

With more than 300 mediations, Ed Todd is a Certified Mediator under the National Mediation Academy, Inc. as well as a certified trainer in Peer to Peer Mediation for children’s conflicts. Ed is a strong advocate for alternative dispute resolution and mediation in civil, employment and societal disputes. His experience in the insurance industry as an adjuster, claims examiner and lawyer representing various insurance companies gives him a full understanding of how to deal with the insurance companies in these tough days when insurance companies are being very difficult in resolving claims.

Ed’s legal experience also includes admiralty, business torts and contracts, civil rights, discrimination, consumer/DTPA, employment/labor, environmental (individual and mass torts), family, health, insurance (tort and consumer), oil and gas, real property, professional liability, product liability, and workers compensation (old and new law, and uninsured). His professional memberships include State Bar of Texas, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Parker County Bar Association (past President), Harris County Bar Association, Angelina County Bar Association, College of the State Bar (admitted 1986), Pro Bono College, SPIDR, Association of Attorney-Mediators, USIECR, A.A. White Dispute Resolution Institute, and Society of Human Resource Management. Ed has authored various employment law articles, including ADR in the Workplace, and ADR/Dispute Management Systems.

Ed and his wife, Carol, moved to Lufkin from Houston in 1995 when they bought Hilltop Nursery, where they specialize in tropical plants and antique roses, and also have added an antique shop. Ed served as past Chairman of the Board and Deacon of Central Christian Church in Weatherford, and Deacon of Bellaire Christian Church in Houston. He was active as Commissioner and sponsor of the Longhorn Council of Boy Scouts of America, and Chairman of the Board of the Parker County Housing Authority. Also, with a registered herd of over 500 cattle while in north Texas, Ed was President of the Texas Brahmental Association.
